Description:
Originally produced in 2013-2014 to coincide SHOCK's feature in Anonymous Magazine (Issue #3) 2013 , this early graphic work is a limited edition screen print compiled from the artist’s original photos of freight, transit, and wall paintings across the U.S.
Each layer was hand-separated in CMYK and printed by SHOCK in his early print labratory.
This edition has never been released, until now.
Each impression is hand signed and numbered by the artist, along with the offical SHOCK ARCHIVE stamp on the back.
These are not pristine publisher editions, they are artist-made works, pulled directly from the studio, each bearing small imperfections like fingerprints, pinholes, or creases. These variations are not flaws, but artifacts of the artist’s hand and process.
More than a reproduction, this print is a record of movement, of style, of a time. It represents an established history of mark-making that has shaped the artist and left its mark on the cities he’s moved through.
Screen printing has long been a primary medium for SHOCK, first learned at St. Paul Central High School (2000's) and later taught at Juxtaposition Arts (2014). The process is inseparable from his approach to graffiti: whether on paper, steel, or fabric the mark is always unmistakably KOOL SHOCK.
This release is the first in a series presented by Joe Ellis Art and the artist himself, highlighting a body of screen printed works from SHOCK’s prolific (2013–2016) early studio practice.
